I'ts pretty amazing how many people that have commented on this in my other galleries have said how she looks exactly like them! I don't know if it's wishful thinking, or if this is some kind of ultimate woman portrait. I swear, almost everyone!
It's so very true though. Robert Jordan does well at placing a specific general image in our minds of what these characters look like, not only by descriptions but mannerisms and inferences. You're one of the few people who have captured WoT characters perfectly, I congratulate you.
I dont know about looking me, cos im a bloke but shes is pretty egweney... Im reading book 11 at the moment and when im finished im considering startrting from book one and doing a series of painting from each book... so its nice to see someone else having their head full of jordans lovelies... I hope he loves long enough to finish a memory of light... possibly 2000 pages long! mmm... gets a fave from me
I love the hair and the ball of saidar. Egwene is one of the characters I actually like. (Many of them are starting to annoy me now, but oh well) I think she might be among my favourite ones. I actually didn't have her clearly pictured in my mind. I usually picture characters based on their clothes (which seem to be better described) and maybe hair colour and the rest is just a hastily coloured in blur of features. Anyways, this is beautiful!
What program did you do it on? I am envious of what people can do on their computers and I kind of want to give it a try. What would you recommend for utter beginners?
Again, I stare in awe at your picture and sing in praise! Fav!!!!!
For utter beginners that have some drawing experience, and really want to get into the digital side of art, I can only tell to buy a digital drawing tablet. I warmly recommend the Wacom Intuous, but I know they are a bit expensive. Just as long as you get one with pressure-sensitivity, it's good . I use Adobe Photoshop for software, but there are free programs out there that can help you create just as fine, when you've gotten to know them. Look around a bit, and I'm sure you'll find a favourite.
The rest of it is just months and months ( which turns to years and years ) of practice ^_^. That's the fun with art - you are NEVER a master, there are always more things to learn. Have fun!
just gorgeous... she looks more like how i pictured Egraine (whatsername... the Andoran one)
but none the less, extremely beautiful... i guess thats one of the downers to doing fanart, people always criticise you on how it doesnt look like what they think it should, and not on your artistic skills...
OMG, this looks nothing like me! Very cool though. I like your interpretation of Egwene. Was there a particular time when you envisioned her like this? Like, a particular book? Is she in the Waste or something like that? Anyway, awesome job! Fave.
Have you done any other WoT-based pics besides this and your Nynaeve one? You a most elegant and simply gorgeous style.
Yes, I did envision her in the Waste, as she was pretending to be Aes Sedai, but no particular moment in the books. I haven't drawn as detialed pictures of the other chars in WoT, but just sketches. You can see them on [link], the hand-drawn art gallery. Beware of some Ooooold art, though..
Actually, I've always pictured Egwene a bit differently. Less serene perhaps, fiery, a little bolder in her features. But you've captured her beautifully nonetheless, sure to alter my imagery when I reread the series.
